I led the end-to-end design process for ReviewTailor, an HR performance management software that simplifies and automates performance reviews for professionals. Powered by AI, ReviewTailor streamlines review processes while embedding prompts that promote inclusivity and performance management best practices.
OVERVIEW
As the sole designer for ReviewTailor, I was responsible for designing the end-to-end dashboard and AI assistant interface in Figma. Working within a six-week timeline, I developed an MVP to present to investors and support QA testing, ensuring the design was both functional and user-friendly.
CHALLENGE
DISCOVERY
Key Insights
The main users of ReviewTailor were identified as job seekers and switchers, who need to efficiently translate their past project successes and performance metrics into a structural portfolio of their achievements, monitoring their career development in real-time.
Stakeholder Collaboration
The stakeholders had previously conducted extensive audience and market research to identify user pain points, motivations, and emerging opportunities. My role was to synthesize their findings and ideas from their Product Requirement Document and translate them into actionable design directions.
Through weekly standup meetings with the stakeholders, we identified 4 key features:
Growth Plan
Acts as a strategic roadmap for career goals based on user insights. It provides personalized goals and recommendations to help businesses translate customer data into actionable steps.
Summaries
Condenses complex data into digestible visuals. Offers a snapshot of performance metrics and trends, empowering users to make informed decisions.
Feedback
Collects and organizes feedback from various sources, such as customers, employees, and stakeholders. Encourages a culture of improvement through structured input and analysis tools.
AI Career Companion
Guides users through the dashboard. It offers quick insights, answers questions, and suggests next steps based on real-time data.
DEFINE
Synthesizing user needs and stakeholder objectives, I identified key opportunities to make professional growth more actionable and motivating. The goal was to create an intuitive ecosystem that transforms complex career data into clear insights, actionable next steps, and gamified progress markers that keep users engaged in their development journey.
TAKEAWAYS
By the end of my internship, I presented my full design process and MVP prototypes to ReviewTailor’s co-founders, walking them through how each decision connected back to user needs and business goals. Working as the sole designer under a fast deadline pushed me to grow quickly, especially in structuring my design process, making confident decisions, and communicating clearly with both stakeholders and developers. It was a formative experience that strengthened my ability to deliver thoughtful work in a startup environment.
